5 Things to Remember When You’re Feeling Down

Mike Masters 2 min read Article + video

We all have days when we feel low. On those days, a few simple reminders can lift your energy and bring you back up. These are the five I come back to, plus one extra.

1. Someone loves you

We get so caught up in work, obligations and arguments that we forget the beautiful things in life. Out there are people who love you for who you are, without judgment. They just love your being. When you feel low, think of them.

2. You’re worth more than you think

We live in a world where a lot of people try to lower your worth so they can feel better than you. Sometimes you’re just collateral damage in someone else’s war: you happen to be standing on their battlefield and you catch a stray bullet.

In those moments, remember that you have qualities nobody else has, things you can do that nobody else can. Even if you can’t see them right now, someone can, and to them you’re special. Surround yourself with the people who keep reminding you of that.

3. You’re beautiful, inside and out

A good heart is rare in a world where so many people have gone sour at the root. Not everyone will appreciate yours, but some people are thankful you exist. Spend your time with them, the ones who speak positivity into your ears, not the ones whose job seems to be bringing the vibe down.

4. Everything is fine, and if it isn’t, it will be

The news makes it feel like nothing is fine. But step out into the real world: people are travelling, chilling, living their dream lives, having beautiful everyday moments. It’s your mental prison that makes everything look broken.

If something really isn’t fine, do what’s needed to fix it, and if you can’t, ask someone capable for help. You don’t have to solve everything yourself. Otherwise: put on some good music, go see someone, chill your mind. It’s all good.

5. Blessings are waiting for you

In the video I explain how we often block our own blessings, usually with our ego, and the extra reminder that brings the most peace of all: stop trying to control everything.
