Stop Pretending: Expose Yourself and Be Free
You may have noticed people looking at you differently lately. Often, that’s because they’re starting to see past the story you told them about who you are.
Lies get exposed
Many of us introduce ourselves as bigger than we are: someone who knows everything, has it all under control, has done this and that. One by one, the secrets come out, and you watch it happen through people’s reactions: “Wait, is this really who they said they were? Was it all an empty story?” It’s a painful way to live.
What I did
I resisted for a long time. Then I realised it was better to expose myself: “This is who I am. I’m not who I said I was. Take it or leave it.”
The right people said, “I’ll take it, whoever you are, because I love you.” The fake ones disappeared. And that worked in my favour: now I’m surrounded only by people who genuinely care about me and appreciate me for who I really am. Nobody can hold anything over you once you’ve shown it yourself.
Leeward and windward
On the windward side, the wind blows in your face, pushes you backwards and makes every step hard. Turn to the leeward side and the same wind pushes you forward. In the video I talk about both choices, and why dropping the act turns the wind around.
