End the Slavery: Reclaim Your Power by Owning Who You Are
Your phone knows more about you than you might think. We were given these devices, we even paid for them, and they go everywhere with us: two cameras, a microphone, always within reach.
Why secrets are such a powerful weapon
Most people carry things they’re ashamed of. Anyone who knows those things, or who makes you feel they might be exposed, has a hold over you. Fear of exposure, guilt over past mistakes, and the feeling that you messed up for good keep people obedient.
Strip naked and stop caring
The way out is the same one I took: own it. “This is who I am.” We’ve all made mistakes. Once you own yours and stop feeling ashamed and guilty, nobody has anything to hold over you anymore, and the device in your pocket becomes a tool rather than a master. I’m using mine right now to share this message.
Don’t trade the real world for a virtual one
We’re heading towards a world of goggles and virtual islands where people may come to prefer the virtual to the real, and even pay for it. Before that, spend some time with yourself. Meditate on it: what can I do so this device stops controlling me, and starts working for me? You still have your power. You just need to take it back.
