How Well Do You Know Me? I’m Not Who You Think I Am
Someone came up to me the other day: “I’ve been watching you for a while. Not just on YouTube, in the neighbourhood too. You’ve got this life figured out. What’s your secret? How can I be more like you?”
It showed me how people see me from the outside. So here’s the truth: I’m not who you think I am.
I don’t have it all figured out
I have flaws. I have things I struggle with and battles I fight inside, like every other human being. What I do is try to be a bit better every day. After every experience I analyse myself, criticise myself honestly, see what I could have done better, and improve.
Maybe that’s why it looks like I have it figured out. Maybe some of my points of view are different from most people’s. But I’m certainly not all-knowing.
You can only know me in person
You may have seen some of my wins and some of my failures. You may have heard rumours, some good, some bad. That builds an image of me in your head. But there are things even my closest people don’t know about me.
And people change. I’m not who I was five years ago, or one year ago. Even yesterday, something happened, my mood shifted, and today I’m different.
Who gets to be close
I don’t keep everyone around for long. The people who become a real part of my life are the ones who are true to themselves and constantly working on becoming a better version of themselves.
That doesn’t mean being perfect. You’re 100% perfect as you are; your imperfections are just things to polish. Focus on your good sides, on what makes you different, and you’ll start feeling better about yourself. That’s where we’ll meet.
