“Just a Little Bit More”: The Thought That Keeps You Stuck
“Just a little bit more.” That one thought is the main reason so many of us stay enslaved.
How it traps you
You do something, you notice the results, and when they’re clearly not working in your favour, you’re supposed to stop. But some things hook you: cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, oversexualising. You already know it’s not helping. And still: “I can’t get enough. Just a little bit more.”
Days pass, then weeks, then months, and you’re still in the same place, struggling with the same thing.
Now is all you have
The present moment is the only moment that exists, and the only one in which you can stop harming yourself. Use it.
It will be hard, and you’ll fail over and over. You’ll quit smoking for three days and then light one up again. Don’t let that discourage you. Let it motivate you: I lasted three days without harming myself. Three full days of giving myself the love I deserve.
Watch how life responds
Look honestly at your life. Which actions feed your soul, and which only harm you? Which bring beautiful feelings, and which bring misery? Observe how life responds each time you do a certain thing, and draw your own conclusion. That’s the moment you’ll stop saying “just a little bit more”.
