Only God Can Judge Me: A Message for Highly Judgmental People
If you’re quick to judge and think you know other people well, here are a few things to think about.
You don’t know them
Most people barely know themselves. You’ve seen maybe 1% of someone’s expression. They remind you of something, and your mind builds a full picture from that. But they have other sides, other opinions, other attitudes you’ve never seen.
Someone is judging you too
As Bob Marley sang, the road of life is rocky and you may stumble too. We judge people by our own beliefs: when theirs don’t match ours, we look down on them. Meanwhile, someone is looking down on us for ours. We all hold some false beliefs.
Judgment pushes people away
Even when you judge silently, people feel the vibe. And once they sense it, they stop showing you their authentic self, often without even realising, because they know they’ll get pointed at.
You end up believing an image that doesn’t exist, until a future experience shows you how wrong you were. That’s fine; every mistake is a lesson. But you could skip it.
See people the way you see yourself
Let people be who they are, whatever movie they’re living. When you look at others as equals, there’s no room for judgment, and you’ll feel freer to be yourself too, because they won’t be judging you either.
