Know Thyself: Stop Letting People Tell You Who You Are
A lot of people live by labels and titles, and you’ll be given plenty of both. Don’t let them define who you are.
People only see you from where they stand
Others see you through their own perspective. They don’t know you as well as you know yourself. And if you get attached to a label, you miss how much more you are.
Doctor, professor, junkie, or a name worse than that: whenever someone tries to pin a label on you, remind yourself you’re more than it. Life is bigger than all of us.
Know your own worth
Know thyself. Know how amazing you already are, without waiting for someone to tell you you’re good enough.
Be your own driver
When you rely on other people’s labels, you hand them the wheel of your feelings: they can make you feel good, and just as easily make you feel bad. Take the wheel back. When titles stop governing how you feel, you become empowered, and free to see yourself however you choose.
